Hi! I'm Miguel
Fifth Year Computer Engineering Student
A computer engineering graduate with extensive electronics product development experience. In his most recent co-op with Starfish Medical, he was exposed to the rigorous product development process necessary in medical applications. By leading a team at Ergonomyx technologies, he developed a soon to be released IoT office equipment product. He is currently working with Salyx Medical to develop their IoT vitals tracker that monitors five crucial health factors of the user. Miguel has a passion for electronics and technology, especially 3D printing, PCB design, and PC building. In his free time, Miguel is an avid weightlifter, enthusiastic soccer player, and loves to play competitive video games.
Clubs and Employers
Over the years I have had the opportunity to work on over a dozen amazing projects and teams that have shaped me into the engineer I am today. From hardware to mechanical projects, I have been blessed to widen my skills through the experiences I've gained from these teams.
Outside of the Office
Soccer
I am an avid soccer fan and player, playing multiple times a week in different intramurals and drop-in leagues.
Cooking
I love cooking meals for family and friends, and experimenting in the kitchen with new and exciting meals.
Gaming
With a background in competitive gaming, I now enjoy taking time to relax and talk with my friends while playing some video games.
Weightlifting
I discovered weightlifting in University and was enthused seeing growth over persistent training.
Skills

PCB Design Experience
Currently building a Smart Power Distribution Board that was designed to power the USV's electronics (BLDC motors, Central Controller Board, Raspberry Pi, etc.) while protecting against reverse voltage and overcurrent faults. The power drawn by external electronics were also measured alongside the health and status of the battery’s cells. An emergency shutdown feature was also implemented to manually shutdown the entire USV with one click of a button.

Rapid Prototyping Skills
Utilized multiple 3D printers (Prusa I3 MK3S+ and Anycubic I3 Mega) to quickly prototype CAD designs in PETG, PLA, TPU, ASA, and other materials. These CAD designs were modelled within SolidWorks.

Teamwork & Communication
Collaborated with diverse engineering and non-engineering teams to develop creative solutions to complex problems.

Diverse Problem Solving Skills
Conducted numerous acoustic tests to compare tantalum, aluminum, polymer, and ceramic capacitors to reduce the noise generated by Ergonomyx's Under the Desk Bike.

Programming
Created custom scripts various projects, in C, C++ and Python. Developed firmware for a variety of microcontrollers such as the STM32 and ESP32 using the ESP IDF and STM32 Cube.

Leadership
Led a team of four to design a minimum viable product for a Universal Smart Desk Controller that can control any type of existing motorized sit stand desk at Ergonomyx Technologies.
